| Snow Day |

| January 16, 2018 | *** | SNOW DAY | *** She woke up to a cold draft floating in her room. Blinking the sleep away from her tired eyes, she peered around her semi-bright room. Her window, which was open from last night, allowed her to see the white world around her. It was cloudy outside the sun’s rays still penetrated the world below. She sat up and gazed longingly outside. Snow. The last time she saw the white blanket on the earth was years ago at the mountains she would go to with her family. She smiled and shifted her body so she could climb off her bed. Her feet sank in the soft carpet that lingered on her floor and she padded her way to her closet, dragging a winter coat off its hanger and slipping it over her sweater clad body. She stuffed her feet in some boots, not caring if it was rain boots. She then slapped a beanie on her head and made her way out of her room, creeping along the quiet hallways to the winter wonderland outside. Her feet crunched the ...

| Destruction |

| August 4, 2017 | * * * | Destruction | Listen to 'Red Sorrow' by Audiomachine as you read this short story. It'll add to the mood.  * * *  They say that curiosity is a dangerous thing. That being too curious could lead to destruction. That curiosity killed the cat. But satisfaction never brought it back. After all, you can't bring the dead back to life. And I speak from experience.  Life was peaceful and calm. Everything was as perfect as could be. I was happy, she was happy, we were happy. I had plans. Plans that would seal our future together. The ring was hiding at the spot I picked out. I made sure it was her favorite place. She had no idea about the event. But then again, neither did I.  I guess fate just didn't want us to be together. I think maybe he was jealous that we were so happy together. That we didn't need him anymore. That we decided to take matters into our own hands. But he proved stronger. Because only destruction...

| Moon |

| July 7th, 2017 | *** | Moon | *** As she made her way through the empty streets with nothing but the sound of music blasting through the speakers, she gazed outside the window of the car and took in the beauty of the full moon, watching how it quietly sat in the sky. Watching it light up the still earth and quietly bask the world in its soft and radiant glow.  She couldn't help but to compare the ever watchful moon to the never caring sun. How the sun only worries about shining brighter and warmer each day, not caring who or what it burns and scorches in the process. Who or what it dries out in its relentless heat.  But the moon...oh the  moon . Like a cautious prey, it stayed up in the sky, hardly making its presence known. Its natural silver glow mingled with the lights of the buildings below, adding a type of calming brightness to the mortals below it.  Its light didn't hurt. No one wanted to escape its rays because it wasn't...

| Art of Discovering |

| June 17, 2017 | She heard the melody and knew instantly what it was she needed to write. What needed to be heard and be reminded to the people who stumbled across this. For what she wrote should be remembered. That it takes one person to discover something that would affect the near future.  *** | Art of Discovering | (Song Inspiration: Moon by Sleeping at Last.  Play it as you read along. It adds a nice touch to the mood) I could feel it all around me. Moving with the light of the moon. Moving with the life underneath its cover. A thick casing pressing against me yet instead of feeling suffocated, I feel more alive and free than I’ve ever felt before. The invisible ribbons that twist between my fingers as I wave them in front of me. The full yet eluded presence than can both nourish and destroy living things. The stillness of it all yet it screams into the void. I smile as I continue to feel and bask in the dark water, admiring the place where s...

My Life to Save Yours

| June 7th, 2017 | And so it began, her first writing journey experience. Her first attempt at a short story, a thousand words or less. And as she prepared to post it, she hoped with all her might that her readers would enjoy the start of her journey. **** My Life to Save Yours * * * She held the dying woman in her arms while tears cascaded down her cheeks. Dark red blood soaked through her white dress while the woman took pained and staggering breaths. "No, please live!" cried the young girl to the almost lifeless woman. "You have to live," she chocked as she clutched the woman tightly. "N-no. Y-you...must...live on," the woman gasped in pain. She then grimaced while squeezing her eyes shut tight. "No! I can't live without you!" screeched the girl as tears continued to fall. "There has to be some way to save you!" she continued as her tears wet the woman's pale and ashen face. "T-there...isn't,...

Introduction

| May 31st, 2017 | | Introduction | *** The only light present in her room was from the screen in front of her and the open shutters to her right. Her deep brown eyes scanned the document in front of her and with a deep breath, she began to plot out her words carefully. After all, introducing oneself was not as easy as one would think.  Hello! My name is Monique but y'all are welcome to call me Moni. I am here today to be able to share with you my own little story creations. I am an avid writer and my goal for the future is to become an author. I am always working on something be it my novel, my book series, or just little doodles whenever I don't feel like working on the former two. I also enjoy reading and sometimes I find myself doing that more than writing (oops). But if that doesn't work out, my next goal is to become an editor. I love editing people's stories (with their permission) and I will give my just criticism. I won't be harsh with them but...
