As she made her way through the empty streets with nothing but the sound of music blasting through the speakers, she gazed outside the window of the car and took in the beauty of the full moon, watching how it quietly sat in the sky. Watching it light up the still earth and quietly bask the world in its soft and radiant glow.
She couldn't help but to compare the ever watchful moon to the never caring sun. How the sun only worries about shining brighter and warmer each day, not caring who or what it burns and scorches in the process. Who or what it dries out in its relentless heat.
But the moon...oh the moon. Like a cautious prey, it stayed up in the sky, hardly making its presence known. Its natural silver glow mingled with the lights of the buildings below, adding a type of calming brightness to the mortals below it.
Its light didn't hurt. No one wanted to escape its rays because it wasn't something to be afraid of. It didn't burn, dry out, or weaken mortals. It didn't make one afraid and fear it. At least, not to those awake long enough to appreciate the substance that was the moon.
She found it a shame that most couldn't be more thankful for the silver orb that orbited around the world when the sun was off doing its own thing. It wasn't as appreciated as one would think but she found that she was okay with that for it meant more for her. And that was enough. Enjoy to satisfy her as she continued down her way into the still night.
